Sachiko Goto Profile -Personal History-
Sachiko Goto Born on the 6th ofAugust 1948 in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.

Classical Ballet Career
1956 Joined the Nishino Ballet Company to take ballet lessons.
1965 Moved to Tokyo to join the Matsuyama Ballet Company.
1966 Visited China as a member of the cultural mission ofthe Matsuyana Ballet Company.
1968 Joined the Tchaikovsky Memorial Tokyo Ballet Company.
Started performing in all domestic and overseas stages with the Company.

Having performed as a soloist at the Tokyo Ballet Company, Sachiko Goto started her career as a freelance choreographer in 1987. After receiving many prestigious awards including the Japan Ballet Association's choreographer award, she established Project Lumiere in 1996 to collaborate with artists of various genres, including dance, drama, computer graphics, and Japanese drums, with the purpose of creating dramatic productions that are also easy to understand. The company uses ballet as a basic communication tool, but it also incorporates a wide range of other forms of art, including noh and joruri (traditional puppet show). Besides choreography, Goto also directs stage arts, settings, lighting, and writes scripts.

Became freelance to join various stages of ballet, modern dance and jazz dance in1980.
1987 July Presented "IN OUT'' to the regular performance of summer by the Japan Ballet Association. Thus started creative activities.
1989 July Presented "Suite: A Soldier Story" to the regular performance of summer sponsored by the Japan Ballet Association and won the Choreography Prize.
Nov Presented ''The Triangle" to the International Creative Dance Contest of Saitama and won the Bounty Prize.
1990 Feb Presented ''The Ladder of Light" to a performance sponsored by the Aoyana Round Theater, Tokyo
May Had presented dance performances ("The Storm", ''Nose List Song -- A Poem to a Noble-Minded Man'', etc.) to the Ballet and Modern Dance Concert sponsored by the Saitama Dance Association at this time of the year until 1993.
Nov Presented "Three Pence Opera -- A Digest'' to a performance sponsored by the Aoyama Round Theater, Tokyo.
1991 Mar Choreographed "A Simple Symphony" for the All Japan. Associated Ballet Evening, Tokyo Area, sponsored by the Japan Ballet Association.
Nov Presented "With the Slight Light -- The Diary ofAnne Frank'' to the 30th Ballet Festival sponsored by the Japan Ballet Association and won the Art Selection and Commendation New Face Prize of the Minister of Education, the Dance Critics Association Prize, and the Best Three Prize for Domestic Artists of the Music and Dance Press.
1992 July Sponsored the first recital ''Lumière", in commemorating wining of the prizes in 1991, to present "Joruri'' and three of former works.
Nov Presented ''With the Slight Light -- The Diary ofAnne Frank'' again to the public performance of the Art Festival sponsored by the Cultural Agency.
1993 Feb Presented "The Kiss -- The Prologue in the Memory to the Tokyo. Dance Scenery sponsored by FM Tokyo.
July Presented to the Dance Showcase Vol. 1 "be...ing'' in coordination with original tunes by Leonard Eto, a Japanese drum player.
1994 Jan Invited by the Australian Council to the lectures for choreographers directed by Jean-Claude Gallotta.
Mar Pregented "Yellow'' to the Tokyo Platform of Bureau Japonaise des Rencontres de Bagnolet.
May Presented "Four Last Songs'' to the Dance Showcase in Osaka.
Aug Choreographed for Hana Sakai ''The Merologue to Romeo" to perform in the Dream of Young Dancers.
Oct Presented "Ropes'' to the formal opening of the Saitama Art Theater.
Nov Presented "Four Last Songs" again to the Dance Showcase Vol. 2.
1995 Oct Presented "ZEAMI--Noh Is the Buddha to Him", in commission by the Cultural Agency, to the 50th Memorial Performance of the Art Festival sponsored by the same Agency.
Nov Presented to the Dance Showcase Vol.3 " I Am What I Am but Not What I Am", a cooperative work with Yukio Ueshima.
1996 Aug Presented "Classic Gershwin" (Music by G & I Gershwin) to the 11th Aoyama Ballet Festival.
Oct Presented the first performance of Project Lumière, "Evolution Dance--The Light of Campanerla" and won the Excellent Award of the 1st Art Festival sponcered by the Cultural Agency.
