Kugahara Now --- From Winter to Spring, 2004
Released on 13 April, 2004

Topics of spring, 2004: The arrival of cherry blossoms, moving of Kugahara Branch Office of Ota City Office, and counter measures against terrorist attacks to trains

Although the start of blooming of cherry trees in Tokyo recorded the second earliest in history of official observation, a subsequent cold wave impeded the progress of blossom and they became full blossoms at the begining of April as usual. This issue shows the cherry blossoms in Kugahara from their early stage to the full.
The Kugahara Branch Office of Ota City Office moved to a part of the new building of Kugahara Elementary School in late March. The branch office started its services in 1948 as 4th Sub-branch Office of Chofu Branch Office at a wooden building neighboring to the existing building. In April, 1965, it was renamed and reorganized into Kugahara Branch Office, and in September of the same year, it started its services in the reinforced 3-story building, which is familiar to the residents.
The official web site of Kugahara Branch Office can be seen here.
After the deadly terrorist bomb attack to trains in Spain, Tokyo Railway Corporation has decided to remove all the trash bins from their stations. A photo here shows a trash bin at Chidoricho Station, which was removed a couple of days later after the photo was taken on 27 March.
