My RX-7

Part 8

People living in areas with a temperate climate might have some problems of water leaking into the cabin. In my case, the water was coming in from a hole, kind of behind the side turn lamps beneath the front fender panel on the right, that wasn't sealed tightly.

Normally water would roll down at the fender, but since it came towards the cabin, it would again roll out a location designed just for that under the bottom door edge towards the front. The problem was caused partly because I had urethane filled into the side sills. Although the stuff expands and stays solid, there was no room for the water to pass.

The problem was solved by making a hole from under, or so I was told. I wasn't around when it was repaired. I also have read about water leaking in from the rear tail lamps. It would then roll towards the spare tyre and sometimes 'flows over' into the cabin. In both cases the water flowed UNDER the base carpeting.
